24. Can an egg cell contain paternal (male) chromosomes?
Yes, of course. The egg, before fertilization is an assortment of chromosomes from both parents of the female which produced the egg. There are some exceptions, a marine fish is known to be parthenogenic, this means that she lays eggs without fertilization. She came from females and she begets nothing but females.
