Matter - Its Organization & Classification
Part 4 - Physical vs Chemical Empirical Observations, continued
Are there any additional empirical observations can we make regarding the imagery on "Physical vs Chemical Empirical Observations" handout already presented (click here) in Part 1 of this series of tutorials?
I am sure there are many you could make, but here is a key symbolism for changes both "physical and chemical:"
- The "go to" arrow. The
arrow represents an outcome, an alpha and an omega, a beginning and an ending for each specific transformation.
Transformational outcomes or change —either it be physical or chemical—for each substance can be depicted by the arrow
. Again, study the images & symbolism shown on the handout in helping you in identify physical and chemical change.
- physical transformational terms we use are boiling, melting, dissolving, etc.
- chemical transformational terms we use are decomposing, burning, reacting, oxidizing etc.
Prepare your own list of physical and chemical transformational terms.
