  • Interactive California Environmental Management, Assessment, and Planning System
ICE MAPS, an interactive, natural resources query system for the state of California. This system uses several Web techniques that allow you to query the GIS system and databases here at ICE. The results include maps and hyper-links to other sources of information related to your choices. The system is used in two steps, or modes. The first is navigating to the geographical region of interest. The second step is retrieving data from the various categories which are available for the specified region, leading to a finished map and other output. The system starts in Navigation Mode. You may progressively refine the boundaries of the region of interest (as explained on the Instructions page). When you are satisfied with the boundaries, you switch to Data Retrieval Mode. In this mode, you choose from the available data categories and then request the system to "Retrieve Data". The results are a map and links to related information. Plans for future enhancements include tabular output.

  • Ecocity Builders
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to reshaping cities, towns and villages for long term health of human and natural systems. Our goals include returning healthy biodiversity to the heart of our cities, agriculture to gardens and the streets, and convenience and pleasure to walking, bicycling and transit. We visualize a future in which waterways in neighborhood environments and prosperous downtown centers are opened for curious children, fish, frogs and dragonflies. We work to build thriving neighborhood centers while reversing sprawl development, to build whole cities based on human needs and “access by proximity” rather than cities built in the current pattern of automobile driven excess, wasteful consumption and the destruction of the biosphere.
