29. Recognize ATP and the role it plays in the cell.
ATP is the energy molecule for the body. What that means is the conversion of the energy contained in the atomic bonds of molecules of food we eat, can be stored in the bonds attaching phosphate groups above to the larger molecule. Each of the two high energy bonds between the third and second phosphate group contains 7 kilocalories (7000 calories) of energy that can be used to do work throughout the body.
