13. What is a pseudopod?

A pseudopod (false foot) is a stream of protoplasm that Sarcodines (Amoeba, etc) form that enables them to move by flowing. The outer layer (ectoplasm) breaks down and the inner layer (endoplasm) then flows into the pseudopod. As quickly as the outer layer breaks down it quickly reforms and holds the inner protoplasm allowing the organism to slowly move by this flowing process.
