24. Name the six biological seasons and what happens in each.

Winter

hibernal - winter - a period of dormancy and sleep - few plants active, animal populations low, having either migrated away, hibernation, or for a few tough conditions.

Prevernal

prevernal - early spring - awaking- plants begin to open buds - migration

Vernal

vernal - middle to late spring - reproduction, lots of both plants and animals.

Estivial

aestival - early summer - period of growth - conditions are still good, but competition is beginning to have an affect.

 

Serotinal

serotinal - late summer - maturation - Conditions are getting worse, competition is now at its highest.

Autumnal

autumnal- Put on excess weight to get ready for migration or hibernation and harsh conditions ahead.
