33. What is an Ecotone?

ecotone

An ecotone is a junction between two different communities. Where a grassland meets a forest is an ecotone. A junction between the two creates a hybrid environment. There is protection in the forest, but a lack of food. The grassland has plenty of food, but not much to hide an animal. So many deer will feed in the ecotone where they have access to both the forest and grassland.
