5. With complete dominance and monohybrid cross, what will the phenotype and genotype ratios be in the F2?
Phenotype ratio is 3:1, the genotype ratio is 1:2:1.
When the word "Monohybrid" cross is used, it means that the cross is between two pure breeding individuals (AA x aa) which are different in a single character. The F1 would only have one genotype (Aa) and one phenotype (dominant character). The F2 would result in three different genotypes (AA, Aa, Aa, and aa) in a ratio of 1/4 AA : 2/4 Aa : 1/4 aa. The dominance of "A" over "a" would give a ratio of 3/4 Dominant character to 1/4 Recessive character.
