22. In respiration, what would happen to sugar molecule (pyruvic acid) if the muscles became oxygen depleted?

Turns to Lactic Acid (remember anaerobic respiration) NAD returns the hydrogens back to pyruvic acid and then it becomes lactic acid (causing cramps). When oxygen becomes available, the subsequent oxidation removes hydrogens, electrons and carbon dixoide becoming acetyl.
